Barry Dambach spent more than 30 years in the Environment, Health & Safety (“EHS”) field, prior to joining CES, both as a consultant and in-house with AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Most recently, he was the leader of the Global EHS/Sustainability function for Alcatel-Lucent, covering R&D, manufacturing, installation/maintenance activities, operations and subcontractor activities. Over the years, he has supported and participated in the development of EHS & Sustainability strategy, programs and auditing to ensure compliance with legal, industry and customer requirements.
Barry has developed and implemented global EHS & Sustainability Management Systems (i.e. ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, SA8000) integrated with ISO/TL9001 quality management systems to ensure continual improvement and long-term compliance. Based on the changing nature of the business and extensive outsourcing of manufacturing and services, a key focus for Barry at Alcatel-Lucent was on integrating EHS & Sustainability into the supplier management programs ensuring that subcontractors also implemented robust compliance programs. A key feature of his efforts included the initial development of supplier/subcontractor EHS assessment and improvement programs, contract language development and reviews, assessing and meeting customer requirements, and onsite auditing protocol and reviews.
Barry also has led corporate teams in the development and implementation of global corporate goals on Design for Environment (DfE), air emissions and waste reduction, and toxic material content elimination programs. This included establishing a Sustainability strategy and function within Alcatel-Lucent that included developing the first company-wide Carbon Footprint and setting the objective to reduce their Operational Carbon Footprint by 50% by 2020. He was a member of the AT&T team that developed industry leading DfE protocols and tools that have resulted in continual improvement in Eco-Product development functions to drive environmental issues into all new products. He has also been the Management Representative for the 3rd party-certified Global Multi-site EHS Management System.
Barry has given numerous presentations on implementing global EHS/Sustainability programs.
Barry has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a M.S. in Environmental Science, both from Rutgers University.
